LUSH Magazine redesigned by Paul Sych


Paul Sych designed the premier issue of Lush Magazine in 2005. At that time it had garnered a host of accolades for photography, design and typography. Paul left the magazine only after three issues and after a 4 year hiatus, Lush’s new owners Bassett Publishing has brought back Paul Sych to redesign the magazine’s look.

The engine’s warmed up, we’ve taxied to the end of the runway and now today, the new website for The Spitfire Press letterpress workshop has taken off! On it you can view recent work as well as buy limited edition prints and T shirts.

Following on from previous post about film poster design. Here is an article in this months FontFeed.



Two typography films released in 2009

The first is Typeface which is currently premièring in the US. This documentary focuses on a rural Midwestern museum and print shop where international artists meet retired craftsmen and together navigate the convergence of modern design and traditional technique.

The second Making Faces: Jim Rimmer, A trailer for a documentary on Cutting Metal Type. Has had it’s released date delayed.



Short Letterpress Documentary


Take a short visit to Firefly Press in Somerville Massachusetts. John Kristensen, proprietor. This wonderful little documentary speaks to the craftsmanship and love of traditional design that drew many of us into the world of graphic design years ago. Take a moment to slow down and enjoy.
