Recently my work has been looking at the broad theme of conflict. As a part of this larger project I have been following the conflict between North Korea and the rest of the world; studying the often bizarre rhetoric with which they choose to communicate. Building up to the launch of the missile/satellite (depending on who you believe), on the 5th April 2009, I constructed a display typeface influenced by Korean character forms which aimed to highlight the misunderstandings and communication break-down between North Korea and the rest of the world. The typeface is designed to be counter intuitive to read, forcing the viewer to take time to piece the words together as if reading a foreign language.
The poster shown is a part of a series of 4 A2 silkscreen prints.
